HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that the westbound H-1 Freeway/Pearl City offramp from the H-201 Moanalua Freeway will be closed on Sunday night, Dec. 17, 2017 through Thursday morning, Dec. 21, 2017 from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., for paving work.

This closure is for the H-201/H-1 Additional Westbound Lane from the Halawa Interchange to Aiea Pedestrian Overpass which adds a third lane to the H-1 Freeway westbound. Conceptual drawings showing the additional lane are available at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/H-201-to-H-1-Additional-Lane-Concept.pdf.

Motorists on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway will be detoured at the Halawa/Stadium/Camp Smith offramp (Exit 1E). Special duty police officers will be stationed at the Halawa Valley Street intersection allowing drivers to turn left onto the westbound H-1 Freeway onramp.

In addition, there will be one lane closed at the H-201 Moanalua Freeway offramp to Kamehameha Highway in the westbound direction.

HDOT advises motorists to avoid the H-201 Moanalua Freeway and use alternate routes like Kamehameha Highway and the H-1 Freeway.

Electronic message boards have been posted to notify motorists of the closures. Special Duty Police Officers will be on site to assist with safety and traffic procedures. Emergency vehicles, first responders, and TheBus have been notified of the roadwork and will be allowed through the work zone. Roadwork is weather permitting.
