KAHULUI — The state Department of Transportation, Airports Division (DOT-A), in collaboration with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Airlines Committee of Hawaii (ACH), dedicated a new security screening checkpoint at Kahului Airport in a brief ceremony earlier today.

The new checkpoint was opened to air travelers following the ceremony and increases the total number of passenger screening lanes from six to nine. The additional capacity will help to reduce wait times for air travelers, along with travel-related stress and anxiety.

As a result of the collaborative efforts of the DOT-A, TSA and ACH, the project went from concept to completion in less than seven months, enabling the additional passenger screening lanes to be fully operational prior to the hectic holiday travel season.
