HONOLULU — The state Department of Transportation advises Honolulu and Ewa residents of an expected increase in aircraft traffic over the area due to airfield maintenance work at the Honolulu International Airport.

Runway 8R-26L will be closed for grooving and restriping at 12 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, to 8 a.m., Wednesday morning, December 18, 8 hours a day. During this time, flight patterns will be modified, resulting in increased air traffic over down town Honolulu and the Ewa plains.

The project cost is estimated at $20 million, 75% federally funded and 25% state funded. Work is currently in the final phase.

Thank you for everyone’s cooperation during this time.
