H-1 Freeway Lane Closures This Weekend, Aiea To WaipahuPosted on Jan 22, 2015 in Highways News, Main, News
HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists of multiple lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Kaamilo Street Overpass and the Waipahu Off-Ramp (Exit 8B) scheduled for 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, continuously through 4:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, for deck widening and concrete pours.
Three right lanes will be closed starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday night, through 12 p.m. noon, Sunday, for the concrete pour. The lane closure will then be reduced to two right lanes from noon on Sunday through 4:30 a.m. Monday morning during the concrete curing process.
During these curing periods, the majority of crew personnel and equipment will vacate the work site, but two right lanes will remain closed as the concrete cures and hardens. Weekend lane closures will allow for deck widening and concrete pours as part of the H-1 Pearl City Viaduct Deck Widening and Repair project. Motorists are advised to drive slowly through the area to provide a safe work zone for construction crews and to minimize negative vibration effects on the concrete during the curing process.
Westbound motorists are advised to adjust their schedules, expect delays and to use alternate routes such as Kamehameha Highway and Moanalua Road.
