HONOLULU – The state Department of Transportation (DOT) advises Oahu motorists of upcoming westbound lane closures on the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct as the ongoing Airport Viaduct Project continues with deck repairs.

Two right lanes will be closed on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction from the Keehi Interchange to the Airport Off-Ramp (Exit 16) from 9 p.m. on Friday night, Feb. 13, through 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. Lane closures will be reduced to one right lane on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., to minimize traffic congestion on Valentine’s Day. All ramps to and from the airport will remain open.

Two right lanes will also be closed on Nimitz Highway in the westbound direction between Peltier Avenue and Ohohia Street during these hours as a precaution due to the deck repair work above. Motorists are reminded that although there is no work being done on Nimitz Highway, these closures ensure the safety of motorists as hydro-demolition work is taking place above.

The DOT urges drivers to allow for extra travel time to the airport, and to drive slowly and safely through the work zone area. Lane closure information will be available on the HDOT website at hidot.hawaii.gov, and will be released through our social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.
