H-1 Freeway Lane Closures Continue This Weekend Beginning Saturday At 8 P.M.Posted on Feb 20, 2015 in Highways News, Main, News
HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists of multiple lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Kaamilo Street Overpass and the Waipahu Off-Ramp (Exit 8B) scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, continuously through 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, for deck widening and concrete pours.
Three right lanes will be closed starting at 8 p.m. on Saturday night, through 10 a.m. Sunday morning, for the concrete pour. The lane closure will then be reduced to two right lanes from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. and reduced again to one right lane from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday night, during the concrete curing process.
During these curing periods, the majority of crew personnel and equipment will vacate the work site, but two right lanes will remain closed as the concrete hardens. Motorists are advised to drive slowly through the area to provide a safe work zone for construction crews and to minimize negative vibration effects on the concrete as it hardens.
Weekend lane closures will allow for deck widening and concrete pours as part of the H-1 Pearl City Viaduct Deck Widening and Repair project. Westbound motorists are advised to plan ahead, adjust their travel times and to expect delays. Motorists can use the GoAkamai website and mobile apps to see current traffic conditions and access images from over 200 traffic cameras on Oahu.
For more information, call the project hotline at 945-1144. Follow HDOT on social media, and visit the Pearl City Viaduct Deck Widening and Repair project website for traffic and roadwork updates.
