LIHUE – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) is alerting the public of the closure of the Kuhio Highway at Hanalei Bridge due to flooding Friday, Dec. 2, 2016.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area. HDOT reminds all motorists to check route and traffic conditions using available websites and apps on your computer or smartphone.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flash Flood Watch for all Hawaiian Islands through Sunday. The latest weather and forecast information is available on the NWS Honolulu Forecast Office website at https://www.prh.noaa.gov/hnl/

HDOT will advise when it is safe to reopen the highway.
