HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists of lane closures on the westbound H-1 Freeway beginning Tuesday night, Jan. 16, 2018 through Friday morning, Jan. 19, 2018 for paving and overhead sign work.

The westbound Ulune Street onramp to the H-1 Freeway and a right lane on the H-1 Freeway from the onramp to the Aiea Heights Drive overpass will be closed between the hours of 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly. Motorists may use Kamehameha Highway as an alternate route or Moanalua Road to access the onramp to the H-1 Freeway at the Waiau Interchange.

This closure is for the H-201/H-1 Additional Westbound Lane from the Halawa Interchange to Aiea Pedestrian Overpass which adds a third lane to the H-1 Freeway westbound. Conceptual drawings showing the additional lane are available here.

In addition to the paving work, crews will be working on overhead signs at the Kaahumanu Street overpass.

Three lanes will be closed between the Kaonohi Street overpass and the Pearl City/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., nightly. If necessary, a fourth lane will be closed between the hours of 12 a.m. midnight and 4:30 a.m.

Electronic message boards have been posted to notify motorists of the closures. Special Duty Police Officers will be on site to assist with safety and traffic procedures. Emergency vehicles and first responders have been notified of the roadwork and will not be allowed through the ramp closure. Roadwork is weather permitting.
