The H-1 Freeway eastbound will be closed nightly for the Kapolei Interchange project

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that the H-1 Freeway will be closed in the eastbound direction between the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and Wakea Street onramp on Wednesday night, Jan. 2, 2019 through Friday morning, Jan. 4, 2019 from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., nightly, for the Kapolei Interchange Complex, Phase 2 project.

Construction crews will be using the eastbound lanes to accomodate cranes for the installation of bridge girders over the H-1 Freeway. Eastbound motorists will be detoured to Kalaeloa Boulevard via the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and may continue on Kapolei Parkway, Kamokila Boulevard, and Wakea Street to return to the eastbound H-1 Freeway. Electronic message boards will be posted to notify motorists of the closure. Special Duty Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control and safety procedures. Emergency vehicles, first responders, and TheBus have been notified of the roadwork and will not be allowed through the work zone.

HDOT advises motorists to drive with caution and allow for extra travel time before heading to their destinations. Roadwork is weather permitting.
