KAHULUI – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Maui motorists of nightly closures of Hana Highway (Route 360) between Huelo and Hana Town at Mile Markers 8.1 – 8.2 beginning Monday, March 9, 2020.

All lanes and all directions of Hana Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. between Monday evening, March 9 and Thursday morning, March 12. No closure is scheduled for Thursday night. The night work will involve drilling and soil nail installation to stabilize the existing slope face of Hana Highway. The full road night closure allows for the work to be completed as quickly as possible while avoiding interruptions to the public at peak travel times.

Emergency vehicles and first responders have been notified and will be allowed passage through the closure. All roadwork is weather permitting. Should the scheduled work be canceled or modified, notice will be posted via HDOT’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter) and website (hidot.hawaii.gov).

HDOT thanks the traveling public for its cooperation and advises motorists to plan ahead on the scheduled work nights.
