Nightly closure scheduled for the Kapolei Interchange project for the week starting on May 24

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists of the nightly closure schedule for the Kapolei Interchange project for the week starting on Sunday May 24, 2020. In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, roadwork will not be happening on Monday night, May 25. Details are listed below.

The Kapolei Interchange project will continue on the extended roadwork hours with closures starting at 8 p.m. Engineers will be onsite monitoring the flow of traffic and will adjust the closure hours if traffic begins to back up. HDOT will continue to post weekly roadwork updates as the schedule is subject to change due to Covid-19.

Road Closed Closure Details Detour Route
H-1 Freeway 1) Eastbound direction closed between the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and the Wakea Street onramp on Monday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for punch list items.

 

2) Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor off (Exit 1A) will be closed from the eastbound H-1 Fwy on Monday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for paving work.

1) Motorists will be detoured to Kalaeloa Blvd via the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor off (Exit 1A). For a detour map, see below.

 

2) Motorists will be detoured to the Wakea St offramp. For a detour map, see below.

 

 

 

Farrington Highway  1) Right lane closure on Farrington Hwy in the eastbound direction between Laaloa Street and the H-1 Freeway on Monday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for paving and sign work.

 

Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations. Electronic message boards will be in place to notify motorists of the closures and detours. Special Duty Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control and safety procedures. Emergency vehicles, first responders, and TheBus have been notified of the full closure and will not be allowed through the work zone. All roadwork is weather permitting.
