H-1 Freeway Eastbound Uneven Surface Near Aiea Construction Zone

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists of a 1/4-inch transition on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Aiea Pedestrian Overpass and the Aiea Heights Drive Overpass due to the installation of pre-cast concrete panels. The project will repair approximately 10,000 square feet of pavement using proven, pre-cast concrete slab system technology.  Crews have installed, but not finalized, 7 out of 84 panels, so drivers may experience a slight bump in various lanes over the next two weeks. This 1/4-inch bump is smaller than the transition often experienced with traditional concrete construction methods.

The HDOT urges motorists to drive with caution through the work zone. Lane closure information will be available on the HDOT website at hidot.hawaii.gov and will be released through our social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.
