HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists of multiple lane closures at various locations between Aiea and Pearl City scheduled between 8 p.m. Saturday, July 18, continuously through 4 a.m. Monday morning, July 20, for deck widening and concrete pours.

  • Three westbound right lanes will be closed between the Kaonohi Street Overpass and the Waipahu Off-Ramp (Exit 8B) starting at 8 p.m. on Saturday night, July 18, through 10 a.m. Sunday morning, July 19, for the concrete pour. The lane closure will then be reduced to two right lanes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and reduced again to one right lane from 2 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday morning, July 20, during the concrete curing process. Motorists are advised not to exit the freeway and travel through Pearl City as a means to bypass the H-1 Freeway closures as there are lane closures in other locations.
  • There will be a full closure of the Moanalua Road On-Ramp to the westbound H-1 Freeway from 8 p.m. Saturday, July 18, through 8 a.m. Sunday, July 19. Motorists can proceed westbound on Moanalua Road/Kuala Street and make a right turn at the Kamehameha Highway Intersection. The left lane accesses the westbound H-1 Freeway, and the right lane continues to the northbound H-2 Freeway.
  • Two westbound left lanes and one eastbound right lane will be closed on Kamehameha Highway between Puu Poni Street and Kuleana Road from 9 p.m. Saturday night, July 18, through 2 a.m. Sunday morning, July 19. Motorists are advised not to use Kamehameha Highway as a detour route to access the Kamehameha Highway On-Ramp to the westbound H-1 Freeway.

During the concrete curing periods, the majority of crew personnel and equipment will vacate the work site, but lanes will remain closed as the concrete hardens. Motorists are asked to follow posted construction zone speed limits and drive slowly through the area to minimize negative vibration effects on the concrete as it hardens.

Westbound motorists are advised to plan ahead, adjust their travel times, and to expect delays. Motorists can use the GoAkamai website and mobile apps to see current traffic conditions and access images from over 200 traffic cameras on Oahu.
