Most State Highway Construction To Be Postponed For Thanksgiving Weekend And Holiday Season

HONOLULU — The state Department of Transportation advises motorists that major highway construction projects on Oahu will be postponed during the holiday season. Except for emergency situations, lane closures will not be scheduled on Thanksgiving Weekend, on Thursday, November 28, through Saturday, November 30, and during the Christmas season, on Friday, December 13, through Wednesday, December 25, on the following state roads:

  • H-1, H-2, and H-3 Freeways and all associated ramps and frontage roads
  • H-201 Moanalua Freeway
  • Kalanianaole Highway from Kahala Mall to Lunalilo Home Road
  • Kamehameha Highway from Acacia Road to Valkenburgh Street
  • Nimitz Highway/Ala Moana Boulevard from Valkenburgh Street to Kalakaua Avenue
  • Kalihi Street/Likelike Highway from Nimitz Highway to Kamehameha Highway
  • Pali Highway/Kailua Road from Vineyard Boulevard to Kailua Town
  • Vineyard Boulevard from Palama Street to Punchbowl Street
  • Kahekili Highway
  • Kamehameha Highway from Kaneohe to Kahuku
  • Farrington Highway from the Palailai Interchange to Makaha
  • Fort Weaver Road

Roadwork that does not involve lane closures, such as shoulder maintenance or landscaping work, may still be scheduled at these locations. Emergency lane closures may also occur when necessary. The state Department of Transportation wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
