Pali Highway Resurfacing

Planned improvements on Pali Highway between Vineyard Boulevard and Kamehameha Highway include resurfacing the pavement and replacement of street lights including poles and foundations. Roadway safety improvements will also be done including the installation of median barriers, replacement of guardrails and end treatments, and replacement of traffic signal equipment and signs. Where feasible work will be done to repurpose the median for construction laneage.

Due to the extent of the proposed improvements, the work will be accomplished under two separate projects. The first project will repair/replace the street lights from Vineyard Boulevard to Kamehameha Highway and will also include repaving Pali Highway from Waokanaka Street to Kamehameha Highway including, the parallel Waokanaka Street and the Pali Highway/Waokanaka Street intersection. The second project will resurface Pali Highway between Vineyard Boulevard and Waokanaka Street to include: reconstruction of pavement; cold planning; resurfacing; installation or replacement of guardrails; and, installation of pavement markings, signs, striping, and traffic control measures.

The scheduling of construction for the second project will accommodate the completion of the Dowsett Highlands Relief Sewer Project in the area to allow the City and County of Honolulu to meet its consent decree requirements. In addition to the project scope stated above, the Pali Highway Resurfacing – Vineyard Boulevard to Waokanaka Street will serve to restore adjustments made to Pali Highway to facilitate the Dowsett Highlands Relief Sewer installation.
