[Update @ 7 PM] ZipMobile Repairs Completed, Full Testing Planned Overnight With ZipperLane Deployment

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that repairs to both ZipMobiles have been completed.  A full test of the vehicle which broke down on Tuesday morning is planned beginning at 11 p.m. tonight.

The repaired ZipMobile will begin deployment of the H-1 ZipperLane barriers early, beginning at 11 p.m. tonight, to fully test the restored systems under normal operational conditions.  In the event that a mechanical failure should occur, the earlier start time will give the backup ZipMobile adequate response time to take over and complete the deployment operation if necessary.

The deployed ZipperLane will then remain open for use at its normal hours from 5:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the eastbound direction only.  Vehicles using the ZipperLane will require two or more passengers.

HDOT sincerely thanks Oahu’s motorists for their patience and kokua.
