Aloha Tower Development Corporation
The Aloha Tower Development Corporation (ATDC) was established in 1981 to redevelop land surrounding the historic Aloha Tower in downtown Honolulu. The Aloha Tower Complex is part of a master plan created as a stimulus for economic activities on the ocean front State lands within Honolulu Harbor. The plan is to achieve economic growth by:
- Balancing community and tourism development;
- Enhancing the beauty of the waterfront;
- Better serving the maritime users; and
- Providing public access to the ocean and to transform the area to a “people place.”
The centerpiece of this development, the historic Aloha Tower, was completed in 1926. At completion, and for forty years, Aloha Tower was the tallest building not only in Honolulu, but also in Hawaii. With many high rise office complexes darting the skyline of Honolulu today, Aloha Tower still stands out as truly one of the most recognized landmarks of this great city. After going through extensive renovations in 1999, Aloha Tower is open to the public seven days a week. For more information, please visit www.alohatower.com.
