HANALEI, Hawaii – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises the public that the roving single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) will continue next week in the Princeville and Hanalei areas on Monday, July 30, 2018, through Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily. Maintenance crews will need another week to complete the work due to the amount of heavy vegetation and run-off that was caused by the recent rains.

Traffic will be alternated in the available lane through the roving closures, which will begin from the Princeville Shopping Center to the vicinity of the Dolphin Restaurant, weather permitting. The length of the closures for the roving work will be approximately 300 feet at a time to minimize impact to motorists.

The roving closures will allow the use of heavy machinery for annual vegetation overgrowth trimming. HDOT has scheduled this work in July to complete it prior to the start of the school year. Area residents and visitors are asked to allow for extra travel time and to use caution while driving through the roadwork.
