Ignition Interlock Program

IGNITION INTERLOCK IN HAWAII

As outlined in our Hawaii Highway Safety Plan, our target is to reduce alcohol-related fatalities to 34 or less by 2024.

Since 2011, Hawaii has implemented the ignition interlock program as a proven way to deter and set apart convicted drunk drivers from driving.  Ignition interlocks are considered a best practice deterrent and a program when applied help states reduce repeat DUI offenses.[1]
