No qualified bids were received to purchase the vessel
HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) announces the auction process for the Falls of Clyde has concluded with no qualified bids received. The 280’ steel-mast sailing vessel is currently docked at Pier 7 of Honolulu Harbor.
Pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes 266-27, HDOT Harbors Division will continue the removal process of the impounded and unpermitted vessel. Options include:
- Selling the vessel by negotiation;
- Donating to a governmental agency; and
- Otherwise disposing of the vessel as provided by law.
“We were optimistic a bidder would step forward and purchase this ship, however we did not receive any qualified bids that were able to meet the requirements,” said Deputy Director Derek Chow, Hawaii Department of Transportation Harbors Division. “While a lot of people may want to see the ship restored, paying for it remains an issue.”
