HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging marketplace competition with today’s news that cargo shipping company Horizon Lines, Inc., is being sold to its competitor The Pasha Group, and that Horizon Lines’ Alaska operations are being sold to competitor Matson, Inc. The Harbors Division will continue to work with all partners in shipping cargo to and from the islands and remains committed to a diverse shipping marketplace that provides the best possible service and prices for Hawaii’s consumers.
