Mission
To promote sustainability across Hawai’i’s airports by empowering projects, fostering collaboration, and communicating progress through education and outreach.
Vision
As the state of Hawai’is airport system is an international gateway for the Pacific Region and serves a vital role in the health of our local commerce and communities, the State Department of Transportation- Airports Division will become a world leader in airport sustainability. Through SustainableDOT-A, Hawai’i’s airports will instill a sense of pride among airport stakeholders, the general public, and visitors alike, thereby inspiring tenants, government agencies, businesses, and individuals to participate in growing Hawaii a model of sustainable living.
Sustainability in Hawaii
The DOT-A recognizes all of the sustainability efforts being made by both governmental and non-governmental organizations in the Hawaii community and endeavors to support those efforts as much as possible. This includes, but is not limited to:

sDOT-A Guiding Documents
To carry out the sDOT-A program values and objectives, DOT-A has developed guiding documents for individual airport reference. These guiding documents represent the place-based value system of the sDOT-A program; used together, these resources empower Hawai‘i’s airports to cultivate best practices within their respective districts. These resources also provide Hawai‘i’s airport system with a common perspective that complements Hawai‘i’s lifestyle and environment in and around all facilities designed, built, maintained and operated by DOT-A. sDOT-A guiding documents include the following:
