HONOLULU – The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies drivers of closures on the H-1 Freeway in each direction between the King Street on and off-ramps for storm damage work along the freeway.

Crews will close the far-right lane on the westbound H-1 Freeway, as well as the far-left lane on the eastbound side of the freeway, near the King Street on- and off-ramps in the early hours of Saturday, April 11, from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. for utility outage repairs between the University Interchange to 6th Avenue.

Work will require a short, full traffic stop across all lanes of the freeway, to string a cable that spans the roadway. It will be a one-time stoppage for up to five minutes. All ramps will remain open during this work.

Please note all work is weather permitting. O‘ahu is currently under a flood watch due to the arrival of another storm system. All work is subject to change per these conditions.

HDOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, be aware of all traffic control signs and barriers. Special duty police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control and safety procedures. Electronic message boards will be posted to notify motorists of closure information.
