HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) is pleased to announce it has been tentatively selected for one of the reimbursable service agreements (RSA) that will allow expanded services with the HDOT Airports Division.

Through Governor David Ige’s leadership, HDOT applied for the RSA with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). HDOT was notified today it had been selected. An RSA is a contractual agreement between two agencies to provide service for reimbursement. It is another option for funding services and allows a partnership between the HDOT Airports Division and CBP to create new and expanded services for international travel, while reimbursing CBP.

“Governor Ige is focused on improving services for international travelers and this agreement shows the State is on the right path forward,” said Ford Fuchigami, Hawaii Department of Transportation Director. “We appreciate the confidence the CBP team has placed in us and we look forward to working with them on finalizing the agreement in the weeks ahead.”
