HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) is pleased with the order issued on April 14th by Judge J. Michael Seabright, Chief United States District Judge, United States District Court for the District of Hawaii. The Court’s order highlights the fact that from 2011 through today, HDOT has worked to ensure that its employees can work in an environment free of discrimination and harassment. These steps include the hiring of a new Equal Employment and Affirmative Action Officer, updating HDOT policies and procedures, and providing training on civil rights to thousands of HDOT employees.

The Court’s order is reasonable and its implementation will further strengthen HDOT’s existing civil rights program. HDOT will immediately begin providing additional training and notice to its employees in accordance with the order.
