Nightly closure of the eastbound H-1 Freeway for the Kapolei Interchange Complex, Phase 2 project
Posted on Jan 19, 2018 in Main, NewsHONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that the eastbound H-1 Freeway between the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and the Kalaeloa Boulevard overpass will be closed nightly, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. This closure for the Kapolei Interchange Complex, Phase 2 project will begin Wednesday night, Jan. 24, 2018 and will end Friday morning, Jan. 26, 2018.
Motorists traveling on the eastbound H-1 Freeway will be directed to Kalaeloa Boulevard via the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and may continue on Kapolei Parkway, Kamokila Boulevard, and the Wakea Street onramp to return to the H-1 Freeway. (See detour map below.)
In addition, the H-1 Freeway eastbound Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) will be closed nightly, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Sunday night, Jan. 21, 2018, through Wednesday morning, Jan. 24, 2018. Motorists will be directed to the Makakilo/Kapolei/Kalaeloa offramp (Exit 1B).
Electronic message boards have been posted to warn motorists of the closure. Special Duty Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control. Emergency vehicles, first responders, and TheBus have been notified of the roadwork and will not be allowed through the work zone.
Other lane closures associated with this project are listed below.
- Two left lanes will be closed on Farrington Highway in the vicinity of Laaloa Street nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday night, Jan. 21, 2018, through Friday morning, Jan. 26, 2018. One eastbound lane will be open at all times via the shoulder lane and right turn lane at Laaloa Street.
- Left lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Wakea Street onramp and the Makakilo Drive overpass on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, through Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Left lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Makakilo Drive overpass and the Farrington Highway overpass on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, through Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Lane closure on Farrington Highway between Wakea Street and Kalaeloa Boulevard on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, through Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic will be contraflowed.
HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time and check traffic apps before heading to their destinations. Roadwork is weather permitting.
