Nightly closures for the Kapolei Interchange project remains the same for the week starting on April 12

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies Oahu motorists that the nightly closures for the Kapolei Interchange project will continue on the same schedule for next week starting on Sunday April 12, 2020.

Motorists should be aware that working hours have been extended to start at 8 p.m. to maximize construction during this time of lighter traffic. For closure information and detour routes, please see below.

Road Closed Closure Details Detour Route
H-1 Freeway 1) Westbound direction closed between Makakilo/Kapolei/Kalaeloa off (Exit 2) and Kalaeloa Blvd overpass on Sunday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for signage work.

 

2) Two right lanes closed in the westbound direction between the Kapolei/Ewa offramp (Exit 3) through Makakilo Dr on Sunday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for signage work. All lanes will be closed as needed and traffic will be detoured.

 

3) (Will only occur if the westbound H-1 Fwy is open) Eastbound direction closed between the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and the Wakea Street onramp on Monday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for punch list items.

 

4) Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor off (Exit 1A) will be closed from the eastbound H-1 Fwy on Monday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for paving work.

1) Motorists will be detoured to Makakilo Dr via the Makakilo/Kapolei/Kalaeloa off (Exit 2). For a detour map, click here (link to map).

 

2) Westbound motorists will be detoured to Kualakai Parkway via the Kapolei/Ewa off (Exit 3). For a detour map, click here (link to map).

 

 

3) Motorists will be detoured to Kalaeloa Blvd via the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor off (Exit 1A). For a detour map, click here (link to map).

 

 

4) Motorists will be detoured to the Wakea St offramp. For a detour map, click here (link to map).

Kalaeloa Boulevard 1) Northbound direction closed between Kapolei Pkwy and Farrington Hwy on Sunday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for paving work. 1) Motorists will be detoured to Kapolei Parkway. For a detour map, click here (link to map).
Farrington Highway  1) Lane closure on Farrington Hwy in both directions between Laaloa Street and Waiomea Street on Monday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for guardrail work.

 

2) Lane closure on Farrington Hwy in the eastbound direction between Laaloa Street and Kalaeloa Boulevard overpass on Monday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for guardrail work.

HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations. Electronic message boards will be in place to notify motorists of the closures and detours. Special Duty Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control and safety procedures. Emergency vehicles, first responders, and TheBus have been notified of the full closure and will not be allowed through the work zone. All roadwork is weather permitting.
