Public Informational Meeting and Noise Variance Consultation scheduled for Kalanianaole Highway Resurfacing, H-1 Freeway to West Hind Drive
Posted on Feb 26, 2018 in Main, NewsHONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) will be holding a Public Informational Meeting and Noise Variance Consultation to inform the public of construction work and solicit input on the project’s proposed night work on the Kalanianaole Highway Resurfacing, H-1 Freeway to West Hind Drive. The project consists of cold planning, repaving, reconstructing weakened pavement areas, replacing loop detectors, upgrading traffic counting stations, adjusting utility manhole frames and covers, installing traffic signal light backplates with retroreflective borders on all overhead traffic signals, installing milepost reference markers, pavement markings, striping, and signing along Kalanianaole Highway from H-1 Freeway to West Hind Drive.
The meeting is scheduled at the following location and time:
Thursday, March 15, 2018
7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Kalani High School Cafeteria
4680 Kalanianaole Highway, Honolulu, Hawaii 96821
The meeting is accessible for individuals with disabilities. For more information or to request an auxiliary aid or service (e.g., sign language, interpreter, specific language interpreter, designated parking, and materials in alternate format) contact Marvin Luckfield, Resident Engineer, at (808) 831-6802, or Ryan Sueyoshi, Project Engineer, at (808) 837-8032 of our Urban Construction Section, or TTY (808) 587-2210 by March 8, 2018.
Limiting construction to daytime hours would be more disruptive to traffic, resulting in prolonged traffic delays and subsequent disruption to business operations. Performing the work during daytime hours would significantly lengthen the time required to complete the project, consequently increase construction costs, and cause undue hardship on the motoring public. In addition, the Kalanianaole Highway corridor is the major thoroughfare into and out of the surrounding communities.
