Special use lanes such as the Zipper lane and HOV/Contraflows will not be deployed.
HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies motorists that Special use lanes (e.g., HOV, express shoulder, and contraflow lanes) on Hawaii Island, Oahu and Kauai will not be operational on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, 2019.
Examples of special use lanes includes the Highway 130 Contraflow on Hawaii Island, the eastbound Zipper Lane on Oahu, and the southbound Kuhio Highway Contraflow on Kauai. A full list of regular special use lanes can be found at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/special-use-lanes/
There will be no roadwork on Oahu’s Pali Highway on Sunday, Nov. 10. Pali Highway in the Honolulu bound direction will remain open until nightly repaving work begins at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11. As a reminder, Pali Highway Kailua/Kaneohe bound is accessible 24-hours a day, 7-days a week as of Monday, Nov. 4.
HDOT advises motorists to plan their commutes using the state roadwork listing, which is updated weekly on Friday afternoons at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/ Traffic apps such as GoAkamai, Google, and Waze can also be used to view up to the minute traffic conditions before getting on the road.
