Live fire training begins Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Kona International Airport at Keahole

KONA — The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies the public that there will be fire training exercises at Kona International Airport at Keahole for the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters (ARFF) of Kona and Hilo International Airports on Tuesday, Feb. 9, through Friday, Feb. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily. This exercise is a required annual training for Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters by the Federal Aviation Administration. The training will allow fire fighters to apply their response skills to a live scenario. HDOT advises the public that the training may produce smoke around the facility.
