| HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR I, II, III, IV AND IV – HIGHWAYS DIVISION (MAPUNAPUNA BASEYARD) | The Highway Construction Inspector IV supervises and participates in inspecting all phases of the construction of highways and/or independently inspects a wide variety of highway and highway related construction projects; may train and supervise the work of lower-level inspectors; and performs other related duties as assigned. |
| HIGHWAY LIGHTING WORKER I – HIGHWAYS DIVISION (MAPUNAPUNA BASEYARD) | Participates in the installation, repair and maintenance of high voltage highway lighting systems; climb poles, relocates street and highway lighting arms; isolating transformers, luminaires, and wires as required. Measures, cuts and threads electrical conduits; makes offsets and bends for the installation of underground electrical circuits. Restore and repair fallen power lines and extinguish electrical fires. Restore for temporary use, poles and standards damaged by traffic accidents or unusual weather conditions. Locate and repair short, burnt-out open circuits and other defects in overhead and underground lines. Changes and replaces burnt out lamps, broken fixtures and control equipment. Subject to emergency calls during off-working hours to perform emergency repairs to the highway lighting system. Makes periodic inspections of the highway lighting system and performs other duties as required. |

| LAND BOUNDARY SURVEYOR I – OAHU | Performs professional land surveying work in field surveying, office computations and land boundary research; gathers information pertaining to boundary surveys from maps, deeds, land titles, metes and bounds descriptions or other sources; plots field notes and land boundary data, traces final land maps and prepares simple metes and bounds descriptions; operates surveying instruments during field work; may serve as chief-of-party on routine surveys; and performs other related duties as assigned. |
| LAND BOUNDARY SURVEYOR II, III, IV AND V – OAHU | The Land Boundary Surveyor series includes all positions which supervise and primarily conduct triangulation and traverse surveys to locate and establish land boundaries and easements, prepare maps and metes and bounds descriptions of lands involved in airport, harbor and highway projects or other lands of State government interest, conduct triangulation surveys to establish accurate horizontal controls and leveling surveys to establish vertical controls and perform other survey related work for land owned, controlled or in the possession of the State for the purpose of using, selling, leasing, exchanging or improving such lands. Positions in this series require a substantive knowledge of State land laws, Land Court procedures and decisions and the land tenure history of the State of Hawaii; and the ability to supervise and deal effectively with others, do research on land boundary matters and prepare related records, maps and reports. The work also requires knowledge of surveying principles and techniques, mathematics through trigonometry; and the use, care and adjustment of survey instruments and equipment, including the transit, level, theodolite and electronic measuring devices. |
| LAND SURVEYOR I – HIGHWAYS DIVISION (MAPUNAPUNA BASEYARD) | Provides land survey support for highway construction projects and highway special maintenance projects. Serves as instrumentman on a variety of kind of surveys such as preliminary, topographic, construction or boundary surveys, using a transit, level, theodolite, and/or other survey instruments; reduces and plots field notes and performs related computations; may serve as chief-of-party on routine surveys; compiles data pertaining to surveys from maps, deeds, land titles, metes and bounds descriptions or other sources; and performs other related duties as assigned. |
| MAINTENANCE MECHANIC I – HALAWA TO KALIHI, OAHU | Independently performs skilled mechanical repair work in the adjustment, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of machinery and equipment such as water pumps, mechanical laundry equipment, and continuing work assignments in accordance with diagrams. Other duties include the inspection, repair and conducting preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment in tunnels and on tunnels approaches, to conduct and report on structural inspections of tunnels, and viaducts, reading operating manuals, while following the manufacturer’s specifications, basic trade practices, and other related duties as assigned. *Licenses Requirements |
| MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY OFFICER I – HIGHWAYS DIVISION (LIHUE) | Motor Carrier Safety Officers are responsible for enforcing laws related to commercial vehicles including regulations relating to vehicle registration, safety and vehicle weight limits. Duties include conducting investigations, inspections and compliance surveys. The Motor Carrier Safety Officer I is the entry level worker in the series. Positions in this class receive formal and on-the-job training on motor carrier safety rules and regulations, inspection practices and procedures, and accident investigation techniques; and perform other related duties as assigned. |
| OFFICE ASSISTANT III – KAUAI | Perform journey level clerical work involving a variety of complex clerical assignments, e.g., those that involve a number of steps/processes and/or referral to a number of different sources and require the use of some judgment to determine appropriate disposition; prioritize work and carry out assignments independently, in accordance with general instructions and established policies and procedures; and/or supervise and participate in performing moderately complex clerical work. |
| PROCUREMENT & SUPPLY SPECIALIST IV – OAHU | The Procurement and Supply Specialist series includes professional positions responsible for assuring the adequate provisioning of supplies, equipment, material and services to a State department or large agency with extensive purchasing activity and supply needs which substantially transcend normal office supplies and other standard State purchases. |
| RIGHT OF WAY AGENT V – HIGHWAYS DIVISION (KAPOLEI, OAHU) | Supervises a staff of right-of-way agents engaged in the review and analysis of appraisal reports rendered by staff or fee appraisers and performs other related duties as required. |
| SAP ACCOUNTING APPLICATIONS MANAGER | Serves as the SAP Accounting Applications Manager for the Highways Financial Management System development initiative that is led by the Highways Division. This position is critical in the building, the configuration and establishment of the new SAP S/4 HANA ERP System to replace the existing Highways Accounting System (HWYAC) and is responsible for the planning, designing, implementation and maintenance of the SAP S/4 HANA ERP System. |
