Likelike Highway Overheight Detector Signs Out Of Operation Near Kaneohe-Bound Wilson Tunnel
Posted on Dec 6, 2013 in Highways News, NewsHONOLULU — The state Department of Transportation advises Oahu motorists that overheight vehicle detectors and signals on Likelike Highway, in the Kaneohe-bound direction approaching the Wilson Tunnel, are currently out of operation. Two automated signs on the roadside detect vehicles taller than the 11.5-foot height clearance of the Wilson Tunnels and provide a flashing warning to alert the vehicle’s driver to use the overheight vehicle turn-around lane.
The overheight detectors and signals have been inspected and the necessary parts will be purchased and shipped on a priority basis. Repairs will then be made as soon as possible. Two portable electronic messageboards have been placed on Likelike Highway to alert heavy vehicle drivers of the 11.5-foot height limit.
