HONOLULU — The state Department of Transportation advises Honolulu and Ewa residents of an expected increase in aircraft traffic over these areas due to airfield maintenance work at the Honolulu International Airport.

Runway 4R-22L is currently closed in preparation for pavement maintenance beginning Tuesday night, January 28, through mid-February, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., nightly.  Flight patterns will be modified, resulting in increased air traffic over Downtown Honolulu and the Ewa Plains.

Runway 4R-22L is the third-longest of four runways at Honolulu International Airport with a distance of 9,000 feet.
