Honolulu International Airport Runway Closure For Improvements This Week

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Ewa residents of an expected increase in aircraft traffic over the area due to a closure of Runway 4R/22L for airfield improvements work. The closure will redirect flights to use Runway 8L/26R on a flight path over the Ewa Plains and may increase air traffic noise during the evening and early morning hours.

Construction is weather dependent and is expected to begin tonight, Mar. 9, through Wednesday morning, Mar. 11, from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m., nightly.

The HDOT appreciates residents’ patience and understanding as we work to improve the condition of the Honolulu International Airport runways.
