[Update @ 2:30 PM] H-1 ZipMobile Closing ZipperLane From Waikele, More Adjustments Made To Alleviate Westbound Traffic
Posted on Apr 1, 2015 in Highways News, NewsHONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that the backup ZipMobile is currently closing the H-1 ZipperLane from the Waikele area and heading eastbound. The closing of the lane began at 2 p.m. It will still take approximately two to three hours for the vehicle to fully close the ZipperLane to the Keehi Interchange, but as it proceeds, it will open two westbound lanes for use. As of 2:30 p.m., the ZipMobile has progressed to the Waimalu area. The ZipperLane is now closed to westbound traffic.
More traffic adjustments were made to help alleviate afternoon traffic including:
— The H-1 Freeway westbound right shoulder lane is open for use between
1) the Radford Drive Overpass and the Kaneohe/Honolulu Off-Ramp (Exit 13B)
2) the Kaonohi Street Overpass to the Waimalu/Pearl City Off-Ramp (Exit 10)
— Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) operating hours will be extended tonight to 9 p.m.
— State, City and Rail Transit roadwork projects in the westbound direction have been postponed today.
Motorists are advised to still expect afternoon traffic delays as the backup ZipMobile will take approximately two to three hours to fully close the ZipperLane. More updates will be provided as soon as new information becomes available. HDOT sincerely thanks Oahu’s motorists for their patience and kokua.
