Public Informational Meeting Scheduled For Kamehameha Highway, South Kahana Stream Bridge Replacement Project

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) will be holding a public meeting to discuss the Kamehameha Highway, South Kahana Stream Bridge Replacement project.  Work will involve the replacement of the South Kahana Stream Bridge and the installation of a temporary two-way bypass road that will be utilized for the duration of construction.  The meeting is scheduled at the following location and time.

Thursday, June 4, 2015
7 to 8 p.m.
Kahana Community Center
Kahana Valley Road approx. 700 feet from the Kamehameha Highway Intersection

The meeting will consist of a presentation that outlines the purpose and need for the project as well as a description of the replacement bridge and the alternatives for a temporary bypass road.  During the meeting, HDOT will also welcome public comments and concerns.  Project improvements include highway and bridge widening to incorporate shoulders in both directions for bicycles, pedestrians, and emergency uses; bridge lengthening; utility replacements; relocation of power cables; and a realignment of the bridge that will widen the roadway curve on the Kaneohe side.
