Free workshop for women seeking airport fire fighting careers, walk-ins welcome

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) is partnering with the Department of Human Resources Development (DHRD) to conduct two “Women in Airport Fire Service” workshops on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The sessions will be held at the Airport Conference Center at the Honolulu International Airport, located at 400 Rodgers Boulevard on the 7th Floor of the Inter-Island Terminal Parking Structure (Mauka Elevator, Glass Doors). The sessions are free and are expected to last approximately 90 minutes. Parking validation will be provided.

The workshop is part of a recruitment initiative designed to increase awareness of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) careers for women. Topics will include how to prepare and submit an online application, ARFF career opportunities, and the firehouse culture from a woman’s perspective. Women are encouraged to learn more about a career with ARFF by registering for one of the sessions.

To register, e-mail [email protected] including your first and last name, your preference for the morning or afternoon session and the subject: “Women in Airport Fire Service.” Registration is free. Seating is limited to 90 women per session and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk-ins will be admitted. On the day of the event, please check-in at the registration table.
