Honolulu International Airport runway to temporarily close for maintenance

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) will temporarily close Runway 4R-22L for runway maintenance work at the Honolulu International Airport for three nights next week. During the closure, flights will be redirected to other operational runways which will alter their flight paths. This may increase air traffic noise over the Ewa Plains during the closure hours.

Runway maintenance will occur Monday night, Mar. 7, through Wednesday night, Mar. 9, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., nightly. Construction is weather permitting.

The HDOT appreciates residents’ patience and understanding as we work to improve the condition of the Honolulu International Airport’s runways.
