HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies motorists that one lane will be closed on Kalanianaole Highway in the Kailua-bound direction between Kumuhau Street and Old Kalanianaole Road on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016 through Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for the Kalanianaole Highway Improvements project.

During this time, traffic will be contraflowed through the remaining open lane. Police Officers and flaggers will be on site to direct traffic through the area. Emergency vehicles and first responders have been notified of the closure and will be allowed through the work zone.

The Kalanianaole Highway Improvements project spans from the Olomana Golf Course to Poalima Street. The project includes road widening and rehabilitation, installation of a new left turn lane and left turn pockets, and safety and drainage improvements. Construction is scheduled to be completed by June 2017. For more information, please visit the project website at https://www.gloverltd.com/projects/kalanianaole_highway/.

HDOT thanks the community for their patience and understanding while we continue to improve Oahu’s roadways. HDOT advises motorists to plan ahead, allow for extra travel time and use alternate routes if possible. Roadwork is weather permitting.
