UPDATE: The 24-hour lane closure on Likelike Highway in the vicinity of the Alu Street intersection will be extended to Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, to finish the installation of the second catch basin. Construction has been extended due to weather conditions and complexities with the catch basin positioning. The lane will be open by 6 a.m. on Monday morning, Nov. 13. Work in the vicinity of Gulick Avenue will be rescheduled to a later date.

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists of a continuous right lane closure on Likelike Highway in the Honolulu-bound direction at the intersections of Alu Street and Gulick Avenue over a 24-hour period, seven days a week, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017 through Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, for the Likelike Highway Resurfacing project.

The closure area will shift as work is completed. Work will begin at the Alu Street intersection then will move to the vicinity of Gulick Avenue. Two lanes will be open for through traffic at all times and motorists will still be able to turn onto Likelike Highway during the closure at the Alu Street/Likelike Highway intersection.

A continuous lane closure is required to construct four new catch basins under the roadway. Message boards will be posted before the lane closure to keep motorists informed. Roadwork is weather permitting.

HDOT advises drivers to utilize traffic apps and resources to see current traffic conditions before heading to their destinations. HDOT encourages the public to check our website at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/ to be informed of the latest roadwork schedule.
