HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that Kalihi Street will be closed in the Kaneohe-bound direction between Beckley Street and Bernice Street over the next two weeks for sidewalk repair work. Nightly lane closures will occur during the overnight hours of 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Sunday night, March 4, 2018 through Friday morning, March 9, 2018 and Sunday night, March 11, 2018 through Friday morning, March 16, 2018.

Kaneohe-bound motorists traveling on Kalihi Street will be detoured around the closure via North King Street, Houghtailing Street, and Bernice Street to return to Kalihi Street. See detour map below. Motorists wishing to access the eastbound H-1 Freeway may use the Liliha Street onramp.

Electronic message boards will be posted to warn motorists of the closure. Special Duty Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control. Emergency vehicles and first responders will be allowed through the work zone; however, TheBus will be rerouted through the detour.

HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time and check traffic apps before heading to their destinations. Lane closure information will be available on the HDOT website at hidot.hawaii.gov in the roadwork section and released through our social media channels on Facebook and Twitter. Roadwork is weather permitting.
