HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that Kualakai Parkway will have closures between Farrington Highway and Keahumoa Parkway for the installation of a pedestrian bridge truss for The Rail project.

On Thursday, May 3, 2018 all southbound lanes will be closed, and on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 all northbound lanes will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sidewalk will also be closed in the direction of the closure. Pedestrians are advised to use the sidewalk on the opposite side of Kualakai Parkway.

Motorists will be detoured around the closure via Farrington Highway, Fort Barrette Road, and Kapolei Parkway. Special Duty Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control. See below for a detour map.

Future closures will be necessary for the pedestrian bridge installation. Updates will be sent out once those closures are scheduled.

Electronic message boards will be posted to warn motorists of the closure. Emergency vehicles, first responders, and TheBus have been notified of the roadwork and will be allowed through the work zone. Roadwork is weather permitting.

Other HART closures in the Kapolei and Waipahu areas can be found here.
