HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies the public that the Moanalua Road onramp to the eastbound H-1 Freeway in Pearl City will be closed on Thursday night, Aug. 30, 2018 and Friday night, Aug. 31, 2018, from 6:30 p.m. to 4 a.m., for asphalt reconstruction work.
Eastbound motorists are advised to stay on Moanalua Road or take Kamehameha Highway as an alternate route. These closures are necessary to perform asphalt reconstruction of the ramp and shoulder lane between the Moanalua Road onramp and the Waimalu Viaduct. The scope of work includes mobilization, asphalt milling, asphalt paving and road restriping.
The Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation Project, Phase 1, rehabilitated approximately 2 miles of the H-1 Freeway between Waimalu and Halawa through the installation of 1,279 precast concrete slabs between May and August.
In Phase 2 crews will move on to widen the shoulder along the H-1 Freeway eastbound between the Waimalu Viaduct and the Aiea Offramp. This work will involve concrete paving of the shoulder, construction of retaining walls, improvement of street lighting and drainage, and safety upgrades. Closures for Phase 2 work are expected through 2020.
