HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that the H-1 Freeway will be closed in the westbound direction between the Makakilo Drive overpass and the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1) on Sunday night, Nov. 18, 2018, through Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, 2018, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly, for the Kapolei Interchange Complex, Phase 2 project.

Construction will be utilizing the H-1 Freeway westbound lanes to pour concrete for the new roadway pavement leading up to the bridge. Westbound motorists will be detoured to Makakilo Drive via the Makakilo/Kapolei/Kalaeloa offramp (Exit 2) and may continue on Farrington Highway/Kamokila Boulevard, Wakea Street, and the Farrington Highway onramp to return to the westbound H-1 Freeway. See below to view a map of the westbound detour route.

Electronic message boards will be posted throughout the area to notify motorists of the full closure. Special Duty Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control and safety procedures. Emergency vehicles, first responders, and TheBus have been notified of the roadwork and will not be allowed through the work zone.

Construction for the Kapolei Interchange Complex, Phase 2 project is estimated to be completed by the third quarter of 2019. For more information on this project you may view the website at https://www.buildkapolei.com/.

HDOT advises motorists to drive with caution and allow for extra travel time before heading to their destinations. Roadwork is weather permitting.
