Updated: Lane closures scheduled on Piilani Highway for Improvement project

KAHULUI – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) and the Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) alert the public of lane closures on Piilani Highway in Kihei, Maui between Kaonoulu Street and East Waipuilani Street beginning Monday, Mar. 25, 2019 through Apr. 5, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The lane closures will not occur on March 26 in observance of Prince Kuhio Day.
During the work hours one lane will be open in each direction via a contraflow. Crews will be working to install underground utilities including a new 12-inch water line.
Traffic conditions will be monitored and lane closures may be modified to alleviate congestion through the area. Motorists should follow all traffic control signs and allow extra time to reach their destination when traveling through work area.
