HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies Oahu motorists that Ala Moana Boulevard will be closed in both directions between Piikoi Street and Ward Avenue on Sunday morning, June 23, 2019, from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., to safely transport an air conditioning system via helicopter lift to 1288 Ala Moana.

Motorists will be detoured at Cooke Street and Atkinson Drive to take Kapiolani Boulevard as an alternate route. Roadways within City and County jurisdiction will be closed as well. Access will still be available to Nauru Towers and Ala Moana Beach Park via Ala Moana Boulevard.

Electronic message boards have been placed to inform motorists of the closures and detours. Special Duty police officers will be on site to assist with traffic changes and safety procedures. HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time, use alternate routes, and follow all traffic controls throughout the area.
