LIHUE – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies the public that night work is canceled on Kuhio Highway at Waikoko Bridge, mile marker 4.2, between Waikoko and Wainiha, on Sept. 18-19 and Sept. 23-26, due to the Shearwater bird fledgling season.

HDOT will be reviewing options to work during the day around fledgling season, which occurs from September to December each year. A closure of Waikoko bridge is needed for bridge deck overlay work and below deck spall repairs to assure the integrity of the bridge.
