Nightly closures scheduled for the Kapolei Interchange project for the weeks starting on March 15 and March 22

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) informs Oahu motorists of nightly closures scheduled on the H-1 Freeway and Kalaeoloa Boulevard for the Kapolei Interchange project during the weeks starting on March 15, 2020 and March 22, 2020, for sign installations, paving work, and punch list items.

Motorists are notified there will be no roadwork scheduled on Wednesday night, March 25, and Thursday night, March 26, in observance of Prince Kuhio Day.

Road Closed Closure Details Detour Route
H-1 Freeway 1)    Westbound direction closed between Makakilo/Kapolei/Kalaeloa off (Exit 2) and Kalaeloa Blvd overpass on Sunday nights through Friday mornings, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., for sign installations.

2)    Westbound closures will be extended to the Kapolei/Ewa offramp (Exit 3) through Makakilo Dr on Sunday nights through Friday mornings, from 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. When work is finished at 4 a.m., closure #1 will remain in place until 5 a.m.

3)    (Will only occur if the westbound H-1 Fwy is open) Eastbound direction closed between the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and the Wakea Street onramp on Monday nights through Friday mornings, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for punch list items.

 

4)    Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor off (Exit 1A) will be closed from the eastbound H-1 Fwy on Monday nights through Friday mornings, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. for paving work.

1)    Motorists will be detoured to Makakilo Dr via the Makakilo/Kapolei/Kalaeloa off (Exit 2). For a detour map, click here (link to map).

 

2)    Westbound motorists will be detoured to Kualakai Parkway via the Kapolei/Ewa off (Exit 3). For a detour map, click here (link to map).

 

3)    Motorists will be detoured to Kalaeloa Blvd via the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor off (Exit 1A). For a detour map, click here (link to map).

 

 

 

4)    Motorists will be detoured to the Wakea St offramp. For a detour map, click here (link to map).

Kalaeloa Boulevard 1)    Northbound direction closed between Kapolei Pkwy and Farrington Hwy on Sunday nights through Friday mornings, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for paving work. 1)    Motorists will be detoured to Kapolei Parkway. For a detour map, click here (link to map).

HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations. Electronic message boards will be in place to notify motorists of the closures and detours. Special Duty Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control and safety procedures. Emergency vehicles, first responders, and TheBus have been notified of the full closure and will not be allowed through the work zone. All roadwork is weather permitting.
