HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises the public of adjustments to the following exits for the H-201 Auxiliary Lane Project between 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4:

  • H-201 westbound Exit 3 (Airport/Tripler Hospital) – Open with modifications
  • H-201 westbound Exit 2 (Moanalua Valley/Salt Lake/Red Hill) – Closed
  • H-201 westbound Exit 1D/1E (H-3, Stadium/Halawa) – Open with modifications

As announced on our weekly closure list there is a scheduled closure of up to two alternating lanes on the westbound H-1 Freeway/H-201 Moanalua Freeway between the Houghtailing Street offramp (Exit 20B) and the Ahua Street overpass on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

We previously announced that the Airport/Puuloa Road/Tripler Hospital offramp (Exit 3) would be closed during the work; however, the work schedule has been revised and Exit 2 (Moanalua Valley/Salt Lake/Red Hill) will be closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. instead.

All work is weather permitting and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the closure areas. Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the area and observe the lowered construction speed limits.

The H-201 Auxiliary Lane Project will add an additional westbound lane between Fort Shafter and the H-3 exit. Given lower traffic volumes due to the COVID-19 emergency, HDOT was able to authorize day work and start the project three months ahead of schedule.
