Read More Public Informational Meeting Scheduled For H-1 Freeway Rehabilitation Project

Two left lanes will be closed on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pearl City/Waimalu Off-Ramp (Exit 10) and the Waipahu Off-Ramp (Exit 8B) on the following Sundays: Jan. 13 and Feb. 10. The two left lanes will be closed from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., for continuing repairs that include concrete demolition and pouring of new concrete. A third lane will be closed from 6:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Two left lanes in the eastbound direction will also be closed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

All interested parties are invited to a public informational meeting regarding planned improvements at the Keaau-Pahoa Road and Old Government Road intersection in Pahoa. The meeting is scheduled for Wed., Jan. 16, at 6 p.m., at the Pahoa Neighborhood Facility, located at 15-3022 Kauhale Street. The intent of the project is to improve safety and traffic flow by converting the existing T-intersection into a single-lane modern roundabout.

The Hawaii State Identification Card program will be transferring from the responsibility of the Department of the Attorney General to the DOT, and will be administered by Honolulu, Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai counties, beginning Wed., Jan. 2, 2013.

In collaboration with the Transportation Security Administration and the Airlines Committee of Hawaii, DOT dedicated a new security screening checkpoint at Kahului Airport today which will increase the number of screening lanes from six to nine and help to reduce wait times for air travelers.

The state Department of Transportation is pleased to announce that structural work on the Karsten Thot Bridge in Wahiawa will be finished this afternoon. Thank you to the public for your patience and the HPD and area military installations for your help in mitigating traffic issues during this time.

DOT advises Oahu motorists of changes to traffic patterns as part of the H-201 Moanalua Freeway lane modifications in the westbound direction between the Stadium/Halawa/Camp Smith Off-Ramp (Exit 1E) and the H-201 and H-1 Split. Nighttime work is scheduled to begin next week.
